As of July 14, 2024, the Cuttyhunk Water Taxi has sadly ceased its operations. After 23 years of service, Captain John Paul Hunter has made the difficult decision to sell the iconic vessel known as Seahorse.

This marks the end of an era for the community, as Captain Hunter has chosen to embark on a new chapter in his life, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional service and cherished memories for all those who have had the pleasure of riding with him. The residents and visitors of Cuttyhunk express their gratitude for the countless rides and memories provided by the Cuttyhunk Water Taxi over the years, and will certainly miss its presence on the waters surrounding the island.

The Cuttyhunk Water Taxi is an 18-passenger vessel aptly named Seahorse. Owned and operated by licensed Captain John Paul Hunter, Seahorse is a Coast Guard-certified, custom-built BHM. Now offering trips to and from Menemsha, Martha’s Vineyard and Cuttyhunk.
